Walk to Benefit 91制片厂鈥檚 Memory and Wellness Center

The Caring Hearts Auxiliary of the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center within the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at 91制片厂 will host the 12th annual 鈥淜eep Memories Alive 鈥 Caring Hearts Scores a Touchdown for Scholarships鈥 on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. at the Town Center at Boca Raton, 6000 Glades Road, Boca Raton. The event will begin at the north entrance of the mall.

Funds raised from the walk support the Center鈥檚 state-of-the art, evidence-based programs and services vital to patients and families living with memory disorders.

鈥淲e are deeply appreciative of the Caring Hearts Auxiliary and know that every dollar raised is directly making an impact,鈥 said Mar铆a Ord贸帽ez, DNP, ARNP, director of the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center.

Last year, 80 percent of the caregiver programs were funded by the walk proceeds.

鈥淥ver the past 11 years, we have raised more than $2 million for our walk generated by our unbelievable sponsors and walkers, and 225 families have benefited from the scholarship program supported by the walk,鈥 said Terry Fedele, president of Caring Hearts and co-chair of the walk with Vanessa Boltz and Morgan Green, board members. 鈥淚n our 12th year, we are adding to the amazing energy of the 91制片厂 football team by incorporating a 鈥榯ouchdown theme.鈥欌

Last year, 36 daycare scholarships were funded from last year鈥檚 Walk, and the walk raised more than $150,000.

The Keep Memories Alive Walk Committee is proud to announce Bobby Campbell and Louis and Anne Green as double diamond sponsors. The honorary family will be the Helen Nikolas family. Boca magazine is the official media sponsor of the walk and honorary ambassadors include Campbell, along with Elaine J. Wold and Christine E. Lynn. Barbara Gutin will serve as the honorary chair of the walk, which will be dedicated in loving memory of Irving Gutin.

The Memory and Wellness Center is on 91制片厂鈥檚 Boca Raton campus and is part of 91制片厂鈥檚 Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. The Center averages 10,000 visits per year and offers a wide range of services and programs to individuals with mild to moderate memory disorders, including Alzheimer鈥檚 disease and related dementia. They also support their families and caregivers.

Event participants are encouraged to walk in teams or as individuals. Walkers who raise and submit a minimum of $40 before the event or $50 on the day of the event will receive the Keep Memories Alive Walk T-shirt while supplies last.聽 For more information, call 561-297-4066 or e-mail nurchearts@fau.edu.
